30 Years of Independence Regained at LA's Ronald Reagan Museum

The Los Angeles Estonian Society gathered at the Ronald Reagan Museum in Los Angeles on August 20 to celebrate 30 years since Estonia regained its independence.

 

A festive luncheon was held beneath Reagan's presidential plane Air Force One.

 

The consuls of many neighboring countries were on hand and historic documents from the Baltic freedom fight on display.

 

Guests were also able to pay homage to the former President and First Lady, whose final resting place is on site.

 

 

Estonian Yacht World Offshore Sailing World Champion

The Estonian yacht Matilda 4 was crowned world champion in offshore sailing, while Sugar 3 and Catherine II left silver medals on the home waters on Tallinn Bay, setting off from Pirita Yacht Club and one-time Olympic sailing centre.

 

The Alexela ORC (Offshore Racing Congress) World Championships were held in Tallinn from August 6th to 14th.

 

Gold went to Germany and Romania in the two major and fastest classes.

 

In the C Class, with the largest number of participants, the title and silver remained in Estonia.

 

Estonians also took B Class silver medals and several podium places in the non-professional i.e. Corinthian division.

 

 

Artists to Gather at New York Estonian House

The Foundation for Estonian Arts and Letters invites all friends of art and music to the New York Estonian House on September 18.

 

Since two years have passed since the annual springtime New York Estonian Culture Days have been held, due to the pandemic's restrictions, it seemed a suitable time to finally enjoy our common culture again.

 

The event in turn celebrates 30 years since Estonia became a member of the UN on September 17, 1991.
