Foreign Ministry Conducting Global Survey of Estonians
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is inviting all Estonians living abroad to participate in a survey in order to receive feedback on community involvement and satisfaction with consular services.
This is the first time such a survey has been conducted at the ministerial level.
World's Oldest Estonian Lives in New Jersey
The oldest Estonian in the world is believed to be Illa Toompuu of Lakewood, NJ, who recently turned 108.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, friends congratulated her through the window of the seniors home where she lives.
NY Estonian House Reopens with Interesting Exhibitions
The first event since the beginning of the pandemic took place at the Estonian House in New York.
Exhibitions on the life and work of composer Arvo Pärt, who recently celebrated his 85th birthday, and the history of the Estonian House were opened on Saturday, October 24.
Estonian Guitarist's Success in the U.S.
Laur Joamets is an Estonian guitarist who has lived in the U.S. for seven years.
During that time, he has won a country music Grammy with the band Sturgill Simpson and reached first place on the Billboard chart.
Joamets revealed in an interview on the ETV program "Morning with Anu" on Sunday, October 25, that he now has a new band called Lore and although he misses Estonia, Nashville feeds the musician's soul.
First Woman Named Estonian Farmer of the Year
Farmer of the Year 2020, 37- year old Kaja Piirfeldt raises dairy cattle and also teaches young farmers.
She is the owner of Remmelgamaa Farm in Anija, Harju County, which has been in her family for four generations.
