PM's Economic Adviser Sees Situation as Optimistic
In order to reduce the greatest budget deficit ever, Estonia could look at cutting certain assistance and support programs as the corona crisis recedes, Ardo Hansson, a Chicago-born economic adviser to Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and former Eesti Pank governor said.
Foreign Affairs Ministry led Tallinn Winter School of Cyber Diplomacy
On February 9 and 10, the Tallinn Winter School of Cyber Diplomacy took place, focusing on cyber stability.
The two-day online training program focused on the application of international law in cyberspace, the implementation of cyber standards in practice, and how countries can increase cyber security resilience.
Oldest Art Collection in Estonia “Ars academica" to Return Home
On February 18, the exhibition “Ars academica. The University of Tartu Art Collection”, which offers an ambitious overview of the best of the university's art collection will open in the University of Tartu Museum's historic Toom Cathedral.
The exhibition includes works from the treasuries of the university’s museum and library – including prints by Albrecht Dürer and the monumental painting “Universitas Tartuensis” by Enn Põldroos.
The University of Tartu owns a total of nearly 45,000 works of art, and its collections of antique prints and plaster casts of antique sculptures are the largest in Estonia.
Winner of the Wiedemann Language Prize Studies the Language of Estonians Abroad
Jüri Viikberg won this year's F. J. Wiedemann Language Prize for his dedicated work in researching and teaching Estonian dialects and the language of Estonians abroad.
Since 1989, the Wiedemann Prize has been awarded annually to one individual for the exceptional study, organizing, teaching, promotion or use of the Estonian language.
The prize money is €65,000.
