Estonian-U.S. Webinar on Sustainable Cooperation Opportunities in the Arctic
On April 26, a joint virtual seminar on sustainable development in the Arctic was held between the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. think tank's Wilson Center's Polar Institute.
Representatives of the U.S. and Estonia discussed how to foster cooperation to address the critical challenges facing the Arctic, in particular in the fields of research, environmental protection and sustainable development.
Eha Urbsalu Wins Another Award for Best Female Director
Eha Urbsalu has won the Best Female Director award for her short film "A Thorn" (Okasroos) at the LA Independent Women Film Awards.
Walmart To No Longer Use Estonian Cleveron Automated Package Machines
The Wall Street Journal wrote this week that U.S. retail giant Walmart has decided to forego using Estonian company Cleveron's automated packages machines to issue e-store purchases.
According to Cleveron, cooperation with Walmart will continue in other areas.
Russia Withdraws from Finno-Ugric Movement
On April 23, St. George's Day, Russia announced that it was withdrawing from the international Finno-Ugric movement because, in the country's opinion, it had become too politicised.
The Association of the Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Russian Federation announced their representatives will not participate in the next VIII World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples, due to take place this June in Tartu.
The association called into question the need for congresses in the future and blamed them for “interfering in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation and its peoples", Estonian World reported.
