Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir Album Nominated for Grammy
The CD album by the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Kaspars Putniņš entitled "Schnittke: Choir Concerto; Three Sacred Hymns; Pärt: Seven Magnificat-Antiphons" has been nominated for the 64th Grammy Awards in the category of the best choral performance.
Renowned sound director Jens Braun also participated in the recording process, choirmaster was Heli Jürgenson and the record was released by BIS Records in June of this year.
Second Virtual Forum for Global Estonians Can Still Be Viewed
On Saturday, November 27, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held its second virtual forum for Global Estonians.
The life of various Estonian communities abroad was presented and discussed by Estonians from various countries representing many generations, including Karl Herbert Grabbi, president of the Chicago Estonian School and conductor-composer Kristjan Järvi, who now lives in Estonia.

Erkki-Sven Tüür Awarded University of Tartu National Identity Award
Composer Erkki-Sven Tüür was awarded the University of Tartu Contribution to Estonian National Identity award at the celebration of the university's 102nd year as an Estonian-language institute of higher education on December 1st.
Tüür's candidacy was accompanied by a statement, which said that the composer's work captures the spirit of the historic literary group "Young Estonia", helping Estonians feel their national roots while also feeling like full participants in world culture.
Seven Estonian Researchers Named Among World's Most Influential
Six researchers from the University of Tartu and one from the Estonian University of Life Sciences (Eesti Maaülikool) were included in a freshly published list of more than 3,000 influential natural and social science researchers from around the world. The substantial list assesses the influence of the researchers according to how much their research is used by others, i.e. by the number of citations.
This year, the list includes over 3,300 researchers from 900 institutions. Estonia, the only Baltic country to make the list, has researchers from two institutions.
