M/S Estonia Disaster TV Series Finland's Priciest Ever

This spring, Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Belgium will start shooting the TV series "Estonia", billed as the priciest drama series to date in Finland.

 

The 8-part series will depict the Baltic Sea ferry's tragic sinking, rescue operations and ensuing investigation.

 

Streaming service C More's drama and development chief Jani Hartikainen said the programme's budget will be nearly 15 million euros. The series will premiere this fall.

 

 

American-Estonian Skier Part of Estonian Team in Beijing

American Estonian Kaitlyn Vesterstein will be competing at the Beijing Winter Olympics as part of the Estonian Olympic team in the giant slalom on Sunday, February 6 at 9:15 am (Eastern time) and in the slalom on Tuesday, February 8 at 9:15 am (Eastern time).

 

The Estonian national team consists of 26 athletes competing in eight disciplines and a 30-member support staff contingent.

 

 

Agonizing: Beijing Games Likely Over for Kristjan Ilves

For Estonian nordic combined skier Kristjan Ilves, a serious Olympic medal hopeful having his best season to date, the Beijing Olympics are most likely over before they have begun following a positive Covid test, Estonian Olympic team doctor Mihkel Mardna has said.

 

Ilves tested positive on three successive Covid tests and is currently in a quarantine hotel.

 

While testing negative on two successive tests would clear him for competition, there is not likely enough time for this, the team doctor fears.

 

 

Gasoline Prices Reach All-Time Record Again

The price of a liter of 95-octane gasoline in Estonia rose to €1.659 on February 3, up from the already record high of €1.639 per liter posted last week, with no sign in sight of a reversal of the continuing upward trend.

 

Diesel currently costs €1.499 a liter at the pump.
