Kersti K. Linask, PhD, professor at the University of South Florida (USF) and EANC member, has been awarded a 2012-2013 Fulbright U.S. Scholar grant to do research at Tartu University in Estonia.
Beginning in September 2012, Dr. Linask will conduct research and teach at the Hematology-Oncology Clinic of the Hospital of the University of Tartu.  Her research project will focus on enhancing the cardiac potential of human mesenchymal stem cells.  

“The Fulbright Scholar award will enable me to build on my extensive prior research experience in heart development and to contribute to collaborative research efforts in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine between my host insititution Tartu University and my home institution, the University of South Florida,“ says Dr. Linask.
Dr. Linask currently holds the Mason Endowed Chair at USF in pediatric cardiovascular research. She received her BA from Russell Sage College, MA from the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA), and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.  Throughout her career, Dr. Linask has been the recipient of many academic grants and awards for her work on early heart development.  She has presented at major international healthcare seminars and symposia, and currently has a patent application pending.
