After Alan Ago Koerv’s article appeared in the VES #22, May 30, 2013 paper, asking for other variations of translation of the “Kas siis selle maa keel....”.  The VES has received some additional translations.

Why can’t our land’s voice
Rising up in song’s fire,
Seek the way to the skies
To find its own eternity?

Can’t then our land’s speech
Flame in a fire of song,
Toward the heavens arising
Seek for its own eternity?

Why is not our country’s language
Allowd to flame in friery song,
Rising into the heavens,
To seek its own “forver”?

Can’t the voice of our land
In the fire of song,
Rising into the sky,
Seek eternity for itself?

Translations by Ülle Lewis, Ph.D from Delaware, Ohio

**************
Couldn’t the native tongue of this land
rise like a flaming song
up to the heavens
to seek its own eternity
