ERR News - Ex-CEO of Estonian Air, Tero Taskila, said that Estonia lacks many of the necessary criteria for attracting top talent, including infrastructure, wages and leadership skills.

Speaking at an Äripäev-organized forum on salaries, Taskila, who recently co-founded a management recruiting company, said that leadership structures in Estonia are too hierarchical, while top experts want to be listened to, and led by, honest bosses.
He said the fact that a company can be set up or taxes filed in 15 minutes will not draw talented people, nor will the nation's beautiful nature.
While importing experts is difficult, Estonia is in a position to export them, Taskila said, adding that Estonians are highly skilled, educated and multilingual.
Speaking about his past and his 30,000-euro per month job leading Estonian Air, Taskila said that Estonian state-owned companies prefer fixed salaries, not outcome-related bonuses.
Taskila was sacked as the CEO of the national airline a year ago after the company reported a 20 million euro loss in the first nine months of 2012. Taskila's plan was to turn the airline into a regional powerhouse in the industry.
