Victims Of Communism Memorial Foundation's (VOC) Celebrated 20th Anniversary

Ambassador Kaljurand and Col. Aivar Salekešin laid a wreath at the Victims of Communism Memorial today. People gathered there on June11, 2014, for the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation's (VOC) 20th Anniversary Ceremony.
At this ceremony, VOC awarded, for the 59th and 60th time since 1999, the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom.
The medal recipients were Mustafa Dzhemilev, political leader of the Crimean Tartars, and Myrolsav Marynovych, Vice-Rector of Ukrainian Catholic University and founder of Amnesty International Ukraine.
Both these Ukrainian leaders have fought for decades against Soviet communism and for human rights.
