On February 22, the Estonian Embassy in Washington celebrated the 99th Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.

In his introduction Ambassador Marmei stressed the importance of US-Estonia partnership.

The ambassador also presented the citizen diplomacy award to Mr. Tanel Beeren for the promotion of Estonian culture in Washington region.

Mr. James J. Townsend, Jr received the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 3rd Class for his contribution to the security cooperation.

Mr. Alexander Russell Vershbow was awarded the Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana, 2nd Class to thank him for his work to enhance security cooperation.

Mr. Ben Ziff from the State Department underlined good Estonia-US relations.

Mr. John Wobersmith, Maryland Secretary of State, highlighted the successful Estonia-Maryland cooperation and presented the Governor's Citation.
