Despite rain and cooler weather, Pillerkaar, Estonian Folk Dancers of the Washington DC Metro Area, performed in Fairfax, Virginia at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church Reformation 500 Oktoberfest on Sunday, October 29, 2017.
The dancers kicked off the afternoon by dressing in Halloween costumes and participating in the trunk-and-treat, passing out candy to swarms of children. The party then moved to the large outdoor festival tent, where Pillerkaar demonstrated polkas and waltzes with an array of Estonian folk dances for a few hundred revelers who sat at tables eating bratwurst and sauerkraut and watching the fun. The oompah band, headed by one of the church's pastors, even played the music for "Neljapuari," which Piller-kaar taught to the audience at the end of the performance.
Pillerkaar's next performance will be December 9, 2017 at 1 pm, at the Christmas Village Festival/Market in Baltimore Harbor, (501 Light Street, Inner Harbor, Baltimore, MD). Come to cheer them and the Estonian Choir (Eesti Segakoor) which will also be singing there.
