As I enter the Estonian House, a limestone townhouse on East 34th Street, I flash back to memories of the times I visited with my father when I was a child growing up in Manhattan. I remember my father purchasing Estonian bread in the café area, and greeting friends and acquaintances in his native Estonian – a complex, musical and, to me at least, mysterious tongue.

EANC Call to Action – Raise Congressional Awareness of Baltic Issues!
EANC is joining forces with our Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC) colleagues to rally our communities to contact their Members of Congress (MoCs) at their local district offices during the August Congressional recess. All Estonian Americans are invited to contact their Senators and Representatives during the week of August 20th to raise awareness among MoCs and advocate for issues important to the Baltic region.

Press Release on Support For NATO in Congress
Representatives of the Estonian American National Council (EANC) to the board of the Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC), along with the American Latvian Association (ALA) and the Lithuanian American Council (LAC) representatives, drafted the following statement for release by JBANC. All agreed on the importance of informing our constituent communities regarding our views following the recent NATO and Helsinki summits. We invite our community members to share the statement locally and contact the offices of their representatives in Congress to discuss the points it highlights.

The Estonian embassy hosted Baltic diplomats and Baltic American community representatives for the first JBANCBaltic embassies meeting of 2018. The ambassadors updated us on their countries’ priorities and upcoming events and a productive exchange occurred on many relevant topics.

IN MEMORIAM JOHN ANTHONY SCHUYLER, a True Friend of Estonia
It is with great sadness that Jack’s many Estonian friends received the news of his passing on June 24 in Annapolis, Maryland, less than three weeks before his 90th birthday, for which celebration plans had already been made. He was not only an outstanding American patriot, but also a true friend of Estonia and its people; a friend, who came to our assistance in our time of need.
