Pillerkaar Dances at the NATO Festival in Norfolk, Virginia
Pillerkaar took to the road on the last weekend in April for the 2018 NATO Festival in Norfolk, VA. In this year of anniversary celebrations for Estonians, it is certainly noteworthy to celebrate a treaty organization that has helped to keep peace in Europe for decades and boasts fourother member states also celebrating 100th anniversaries.

Behind the Sauna, By the Pond
That's what the title of the popular children's (and everybody's) song "Sauna taga tiigi ääres" means. So what did the characters Miku and Manni look like? Has anybody illustrated this tale?... They were catching konna/poegi (tadpoles, pollywogs, literally "frog young") lõhki/löödud panniga – with a old, beaten up, cracked pan. (In the original rhyme, written in 1901 by Hermann Julius Schmalz, they were catching "ühe poti tükiga".)

May You Crash and Burn!
Seen on the auditorium wall of Narva Eesti Gümnaasium: Head põrumist! But why?
I was initially baffled by this soov , wish of sorts, posted on the wall of the aula (auditorium) of Narva's only Estonian language school, the Narva Eesti Gümnaasium. A gümnaasium used to be synonymous with the secondary school level of education, but many Estonian gymnasiums today are comprised of both põhi/kooli level (grades 1-9), as well as high school level (grades 10-12), in various wings of the same building.
