Before the Estonian Society of Central Florida (Kesk-Florida Eesti Selts (KFES)) breaks for summer hiatus, members and friends gather for their traditional early Jaanipäev picnic and celebration of April birthdays. This year over 25 members enjoyed a wonderful afternoon together on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Locked Shields 2017, the largest and most advanced international live-fire cyber defence exercise in the world, took place on April 24-28 in Tallinn, Estonia. Approximately 800 participants from 25 nations were involved in the cyber exercise.

In her native Estonia, budding atmospheric scientist Maris Palo is a doctoral student at the University of Tartu. When she is not cracking books or watching over instruments in the field, she works at the university’s Laboratory of Environmental Physics.

Two of EANC’s sister organizations from the Central and East European Coalition (CEEC) recently held events in Washington to call attention to Russia’s actions in the region. The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) sponsored its annual “Ukraine Days” advocacy effort on March 8th. On April 2nd, the Belarusian communities in Washington, DC – including representatives from the Belarusan-American Association – organized a demonstration near the White House to call for U.S. and European Union action in their nation. EANC and the Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC) supported both events.
