Estonian Short Wins NYCTV Festival Best Actress Award
New York Estonian Eha Urbsalu's independent short film "A Thorn" actress Sophia Rose Turnio won the best actress prize at the NYC TV Festival. The film was also nominated in the categories of best short film, best director (Eha Urbsalu) and best cinematographer (Mikey Boyne).

Lõimeleer to Organize Language and Culture Camps for Foreign Estonian Children

The Lõimeleer series of summer camps is designed to give Estonian youngsters living abroad the chance to get to know kids their own age from Estonia, learn handicrafts and traditional music, songs, dances and games, ride a horsecart, go boating and much more. For example, at the camps being held in 2020 there will be a combined football and poetry workshop and an introduction to the traditional kama or mixed-grain dishes prepared by women from Urvaste, both hosted by poet and sportsman Contra.

Helga Merits: The Seabrook Project
Helga Merits is an acclaimed historical documentary filmmaker. Her documentaries, including "The Refugee Children of Geislingen", and "The Story of the Baltic University", are important contributions to the body of research about the Estonian emigre experience. She grew up in the Netherlands as the daughter of an Estonian emigre father and Dutch mother, worked as a journalist in the Netherlands and Belgium, and is now a documentary film maker focused on the Baltic emigre experience.

Youth Attend JBANC Conference Thanks to Grant
The Estonian American National Council congratulates the 5 outstanding young people who were selected as EANC grantees to attend the 13th JBANC Conference "The Baltics @ 101: Remembering the Past, Shaping the Future" on Nov. 9 in Washington. DC. They also attended the evening's Awards Gala and took advantage of the opportunity to speak with Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas and Estonian Ambassador to the U.S. Jonatan Vseviov, among others.

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu Digs in Concerning Border Issue with Russia

Foreign Minister Reinsalu has said in a radio program aired by the Estonian public broadcasting organization ERR that the country of Estonia will not retreat from the underpinnings of the Peace Treaty of Tartu if she is to finally ratify a new border treaty with the Russian Federation.
