JBANC meeting
The Joint Baltic American National Committee, Inc. (JBANC) has begun a series of meetings with members of the House Baltic Caucus to thank and recognize them for their support for Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Pictured at a recent meeting are (right to left) upcoming JBANC Chair Marju Rink-Abel, Managing Director Karl Altau, Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, and JBANC intern Lita Juberte.
The House Baltic Caucus currently has 52 Members, and is co-chaired by Congressmen John Shimkus (R-IL) and Adam Schiff (D-CA).

While in its early days, Skype - the symbol of Estonia’s information technology capacity - was attracting information technology professionals as a magnet, its attraction has recently been eroding, writes Eesti Päevaleht..
Over the last few years several key employees of Skype have left the company to set up their own private businesses.
In his blog, Sten Tamkivi who managed Skype in Estonia in 2007–2012 has mapped so-called Skype mafia, ie successful Estonian IT and startup entrepreneurs who have used Skype as their springboard..

UNHCR Senior Regional External Relations Officer in the Baltic States and Nordic Countries Markku Aikomus said that it is urgently needed for Estonia to admit more refugees into the country, reports Eesti Päevaleht. He explained that while countries surrounding global conflict areas are overburdened with refugees, Estonia has granted asylum to only seven refugees last year. At the same time, the world has never had so many refugees and displaced persons.
