Queen of Denmark Visits Tallinn
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was on an official visit to Tallinn on the weekend of June 15, the 800th anniversary of the date when, according to legend, the Dannebrog, the red and white flag of Denmark, fell from the skies during the Battle of Lyndanise in what is now Tallinn. The queen was on hand for the opening of many exhibitions dedicated to the anniversary.

In Memoriam - Lembit Uno Lilleleht
Lembit Uno Lilleleht, 89, died peacefully on Thursday, June 6th, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Lembit, also known as “Vanaisa” to his grandchildren, was born in Pärnu, Estonia, on March 9th, 1930, to Paul and Juuli (Jensen) Lilienblatt (in 1935, the family name was changed to Lilleleht).

Arm is Armastus (Love)
Minu arm does not mean "my arm" (with which to latch onto your arm); it's short for armastus (love). Its sound is a bit less harsh than the Finnish equivalent rakkaus, but who says love is always gentle and sweet? Armastus jätab tihti armi – love often leaves a scar. It's quite ironic and symbolic that the other meaning of the word arm in Estonian is scar. Photo: Riina Kindlam

Estonia Gains Non-Permanent UN Security Council Seat
Estonia has gained a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2020-2021, following a vote at the international body's headquarters in New York. The announcement came after a second secret ballot gave the seat to Estonia, with four other nations earlier picking up seats as well. Estonia was up against Romania from the Eastern Europe group of nations.
