This coming August 23rd, on the 30th anniversary of the Baltic Way in 1989 and the 80th anniversary of the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, EANC is joining forces with several Washington, DC organizations to host a reenactment of the historic linking of hands that marked a turning point in the Baltic nations’ quest for re-independence. We’re inviting Baltic communities and friends across the U.S. to come to the nation’s capital or to organize parallel events in their cities!

Estonian Film Wins Best Children's Film in U.S.
"The Little Comrade" ("Seltsimees laps"), voted best film of 2018 in Estonia, was chosen the best best children's film of the year at the 18th Tiburon Film Festival in California.

OPENING CELEBRATION
We begin the celebration with a grand procession of the 34 LEP emblems. All five West Coast cities unite to present their own banners! Then, enjoy the program as we showcase our Portland performing groups of singers, folk dancers, musicians and children.

Learn about Estonia's history, culture, innovation and people through a traveling exhibit on Daley Plaza, Chicago June 1 2 pm through June 5 12 noon. It tells the story of this small nation and gives you a real sense of being in Estonia.

Pillerkaar NATO

On April 29, 2019, Pillerkaar Estonian Folk Dancers from the greater Washington, DC area, performed at the NATO festivities in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Consul General of Estonia in New York will perform consular duties in Los Angeles  on June 1, 2019 and in Phoenix on June 11, 2019.

Vaba Eesti Sõna" Celebrates Serving American Estonians for 70 Years
The first edition of the "Vaba Eesti Sõna" (Free Estonian Word) newspaper was published on Saturday, June 11, 1949. The editor-in-chief was August Waldman. A single issue cost 15 cents and a subscription until the end of that year was $3. The paper's first headline read: "MASS DEPORTATIONS IN ESTONIA. Once again, trains full of Estonians are rolling towards Siberia – a systematic eradication of the Estonian people. Desperate Estonians are waiting for war.”
