Congressional Support for Ukraine and NATO’s Front Line
As Russian troops maintain their presence on Ukraine’s borders and Russian President Vladimir Putin persists in his apparent agenda to rebuild the Soviet empire and weaken the West, Estonian officials are among the voices that have spoken out against Putin’s actions.
Members of U.S. Congress and the Administration have also condemned the Russian leader’s recent conduct and confirmed their support for Ukraine and NATO’s front line member nations, including Estonia.
According to CNN.com on December 17, Russian troop levels have been increasing since September, and even in the days since U.S. President Joe Biden held a virtual meeting on the subject with Putin on December 7.

Baltic American Freedom Foundation Scholarship Recipient Karīna Rozena Joins JBANC
Karīna Rozena
The Joint Baltic American National Committee, Inc. (JBANC) is happy to announce the arrival of Karīna Rozena, our new colleague from Riga, Latvia. Karīna came to Washington DC at the start of December courtesy of a Baltic-American Freedom Foundation (BAFF) scholarship.
Her academic portfolio combines studies of strategic communications mastered at Rīga Stradiņš University and a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the Riga Graduate School of Law.

The Estonian Students Fund supports students of Estonian heritage studying full-time at a college or university by awarding scholarships to promising candidates, who demonstrate academic excellence, community activity and leadership, and participation in and commitment to Estonian society.
We are making preparations for the 2022 application cycle and look forward to receiving applications from new and returning students!
On Jan 15 – Feb 14, 2022, ESF is accepting applications from USA-based Estonian students ONLY (i.e. students graduated from or are completing their final year of high school in the USA).

Planned New U.S. Embassy in Tallinn Significantly Larger than Current Facility
The new U.S. embassy complex in Tallinn promises to be significantly larger than the current building on Kentmanni Street.
In addition to the nine-storey main building, the plan includes seven smaller buildings on the site behind the so-called "super-ministry".
