Margus Hunt Signs With Chicago Bears

Estonian NFL player Margus Hunt signed a contract with the Chicago Bears on September 8 and was looking to be on the field for the season opener on the night of September 13 Estonian time.
Hunt was signed by the Arizona Cardinals in the pre-season, but was cut when the team had to whittle their roster down to 53 players to start the regular season.

Tallinn Wins European Green Capital 2023 Award
On September 9, Tallinn received a high recognition from the European Commission in Lahti, Finland – the title of European Green Capital 2023.
The Estonian capital beat 16 other cities for the title.

Due to scheduling conflicts with the venue, LEP 2022 now has new dates: July 25-27th, 2022, at Clearwater Resort and Casino in Suquamish, WA.

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Highlights Digital Cooperation During Visit to Tallinn

United States Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo traveled to Estonia, September 6 and 7, where she met with Estonian Government officials and participated in the Tallinn Digital Summit.
During her visit, Secretary Raimondo met with Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets, Finance Minister Keit Pentus-Rosimannus, and Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology Andres Sutt.
“It was my pleasure to meet with Prime Minister Kallas and other members of the Estonian Government to highlight the strong partnership between the United States and the Republic of Estonia,” Secretary Raimondo said.

Outgoing President Kaljulaid on Official Visit to Kenya
President Kersti Kaljulaid started a state visit to Kenya on September 9, which will be the last state visit of her term of office, which ends next month.
Business diplomacy and improving Estonian companies' interests in Africa will be at the centre of the visit, a theme which Kaljulaid has focused on a lot during her presidency.

West Coast Estonian Days (LEP) 2022 Sauna Fundraiser
WHAT: West Coast Estonian Days 2022 (Lääneranniku Eesti Päevad or LEP 2022) will be having an online fundraiser in October 2021 to support our programming needs and we are excited to auction off tickets to sauna peod (parties) in communities throughout Canada and the U.S.
The 2022 organizing committee invites those with a sauna at their home or cottage to host a saunapidu in their community.
Ticket purchases for each saunapidu will support the West Coast Estonian Days 2022 program.
